Package guided tour + workshop
For schools situated in Brussels who wish to combine a museum visit with a creative workshop we propose a package, including a guided tour of the museum and a creative workshop. After a theoretical approach during the museum tour, a professional comic strip artist will come and give an initiation workshop at your school.
During a workshop which may last 2 to 3 hours, depending on the available timeslot in your school’s schedule, our cartoonist will give pupils a practical insight in his work. He will help each of them to develop a character, to design a story lay-out and storyboard for one page of artwork, and to fully understand and exploit the typical comic strip codes. The workshop’s objective is twofold: providing insight in the craftsmanship of comic artists, and offering an opportunity to create a basic one page comic.
The package is available only for schools in the Brussels Capital Region (8-14 years of age, 3rd class of primary school up to 2nd year of secondary school) in French, Dutch and English. The comic artist will bring worksheets with exercises; the school should provide plain copy paper, pencils, erasers and a chalkboard or whiteboard. A teacher should be present throughout the workshop to supervise the pupils’ work. The museum tour and the workshop can be scheduled on the same day or on separate dates.
